What is in NuRest and what it does.

Valerian root extract

Studies show that valerian reduces the time it takes to fall asleep and improves sleep quality, so if you can’t sleep, it may be just what you’re looking for.

Valerian contains a chemical called linarin, which creates a sedative effect. Valerian extract can cause sedation by increasing your brain’s GABA level.

By reducing anxiety and improving the length and quality of sleep, valerian root can significantly help with daily stress management. Chronic stress can make you feel anxious, but anxiety can also make you feel more stressed out.

Passiflora extract

Passion flower may be helpful in reducing anxiety and has long been known as a folk remedy. It’s believed that certain compounds found in passion flower may interact with some receptors in the brain provoking relaxation. Because passion increases GABA, the activity of some brain cells that may be causing anxiety is lowered and makes you feel more relaxed.

Passion flower may help reduce and possibly eliminate insomnia, anxiety, menopause, ADHD and even more serious conditions such as seizures, high blood pressure and asthma, just to name a few.

Studies have shown that passion flower may be just as effective as synthetic drugs for generalised anxiety disorder.

Hops

Hops treat headaches, relieving your tensed nerves. It is said to contain a sedative effect on your psychological health which is why hop flowers ease headaches a minor migraine rapidly – it helps enhance blood circulation in your brain. Additionally, when you consume it on a regular basis, it begins loosening your stressed and tensed shoulder and neck muscles.

Hops is a powerhouse of a compound called xanthohumol. It functions to protect the cells of your brain from the oxidative damages and stress.

Lemon Balm extract

Has been prescribed by doctors since the Middle Ages as a natural remedy to improve sleep, reduce anxiety, heal wounds and promote longevity.

Lemon balm improves hyperactivity, concentration problems and impulsiveness

A natural sleep aid, it also seems to help reduce symptoms of insomnia and sleep disorder, including during menopause when such symptoms are very commonplace.

Vitamin B5 may be able to help prevent memory loss, migraine headaches, chronic brain syndrome, depression, motion sickness, insomnia, and even alcohol dependence.

Vitamin B5 is known to regulate our hormones, therefore it has the ability to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

Gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA ) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It can cause a sedative effect, calming nervous activity.

GABA helps regulate nerve cells and calms anxiety.

L-Theanine

It is used to help improve mood and lower stress, and to protect the brain and heart.

It is known as natural ananxiolytic because it can have a calming, sedative effect on the body and mind without making you feel drowsy — which is why it’s often used to reduce anxiety, hyperactivity and sleep-related problems.

One of the most well-researched L-theanine benefits is its ability to promote relaxation and fight stress. It is said to be “a relaxing agent without causing sedation,” meaning it can help improve your ability to deal with stress without making you feel lethargic or tired.

If you suffer from nervousness, anxiety, depression or other stress-related issues, you can likely benefit from L-theanine’s relaxing effects.

Inositol

Because of its interaction with the central nervous system and neurotransmitter pathways, inositol has demonstrated possible effectiveness against certain types of mental illness.

It has been found to be effective in small human trials for:

Depression, Panic disorder, Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and Anxiety.

Nicotinamide (B3)

Help support a healthy circadian rhythm.

B12

Promotes healthy nerve function

Magnesium

Promotes relaxing, sleep and proper brain function.

L-lysine

In addition to helping you absorb calcium more efficiently, L-lysine behaves like a serotonin receptor antagonist. That means it partially binds to serotonin receptors in order to partially prevent anxiety responses. Research, in particular, found that L-lysine helps reduce stress-induced anxiety responses, including diarrhoea.
